Unitec Early Learning Centre

About Us

In a little
more detail

Unitec Early Learning Centre Inc. (UELC) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to provide an exceptional daycare service to Unitec Students and Staff, as well as the local community. We are located on the Unitec Campus, but we are not owned by Unitec.

Unitec Childcare Inc. was established in 1987 on the Unitec Campus. We moved into the larger Frances Elliot building (Whare Tui) in 1990 to meet growing demand and in 1996 a second centre was opened to further increase capacity. This is called Whare Pukeko. In 2004 we were renamed, Unitec Early Learning Centre Inc. (UELC).

UELC is an incorporated society and is governed by a Constitution and an Executive Committee. The Executive Committee has representation from UELC Management, Kaiako & whanau, as well as Unitec Directorate & Student Association Representatives. UELC is managed by a Centre Manager.

As UELC is not-for-profit, all money goes back into the centre for the benefit of our learning community.

This ensures that our priority is our tamariki and their whanau.
